So as much as I wanted my transition back into the working world to be seamless, it was not. I feel I'm on the other end of a long battle with exhaustion, grumpiness, and trying to regain knowledge on how to be a nurse again so back to my blog I write. After my first day back I was on the computer looking for jobs that required less adrenalin, but I've assumed my role of adrenalin junky once again and can't imagine being anywhere else. I do take the time for nice long deep breaths now and try to stay present and not bogged down with the tasks at hand. Let's see, what else...
Oh Happy Birthday to my husband. He is officially in his last year of his thirties and feeling strong, I think the chocolate cake I made him helped a bit...
It's the Hersey's chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream. I put fresh raspberries in the center and garnish with chocolate jimmies on the side
I think he liked it...
I also had a birthday entering my 2nd year into my thirties, it was a day that came and went, which was fine with me. At this age it's more important to me to have my 3 days off in a row then to try to get my birthday off and have a wonky schedule. I was rewarded for my decision yesterday with a lovely day with my husband and my dad, who is staying with us for a bit while he works up here. We had lunch, played with goats and picked berries. I took a wonderful nap afterward and then made an angle food cake to hold some of our berries and ended the day with a scary movie on the couch with dad.
I froze the olalaberries to make jam later, or a pie, or for snacking!
Today we will go the the Giants Padre's game, with opposing fans, my dad for the padres Rob for the Giants, me..I think I'll bring a crochet project I've been working on.
Ok off for a hike with the dogs, my exercise routine has been replaced with cake since dad got here, there's something about having my dad around that makes me want to show off my mad whisking skills, this has to end. He just keeps saying things like "you made this from scratch? Even the frosting?" and "this is amazing, I dont' usually like chocolate" (said after his 3rd piece). What can I say I swoon for compliments!
xoxo
